This railway station date for most of 1868, year of the inauguration of the railway line Colmar - Munster extended until Metzeral in 1893. Rehaussé half a floor, the building is typical style of Napoleon III.
Where travellers take the train to go to Colmar or Metzeral, there was once a meadow named "Pfistermatten." It was a sad memory because it burned between 1575 and 1673 the witches of the valley.
In 1814, Bavarian troops made their entry into town and then, after Waterloo, secondments Austrian settled in Munster. These troops dressèrent their camp at this location.
The station was also the starting point of tramway Munster-Schlucht (inaugurated on May 13, 1907). On 3 September 1914, electricity was cut off, immobilizing the tramway. After 1918, it has not been rebuilt. |
