The original building of the Laub, built in 1503, was on the market square, between the fountain at the Lion and the Protestant marches.
The building served as a covered market and venue for representatives of the abbot, the community inhabitants of the valley and the city. It was dismantled between 1867 and 1869 to make room for the Protestant church and rebuilt to its current location, rue Saint-Gregoire.
In the past, is the top of the platform above the stairs of the former Laub Beach announced that the publications and municipal decisions.
The former Laub it remains the cornerstone integrated into the facade of the current Laub and two arcades located rue du Presbytery, one of them bears a mark tâcheron, signature of a stone-cutters who had worked on this site.
This historic building was restored by the City in 2002.
