The museum is located in the same house of Albert Schweitzer. It was built in 1928-1929, thanks to price Goethe, who was awarded by the city of Frankfurt. Albert Schweitzer remains during his stays in Europe. Theologian, pastor, philosopher, organist and doctor, his house is now a museum devoted to him. Furniture, books, photos, sheets sick, sermons, partitions, all memories of this great man are gathered.

This small museum presents the history of trades of the forest and its exploitation at the time of loggers and schlittage. It revives the ancestral techniques of logging and wood transport.

The church-memorial of Emm

At the top of the hill of Emm (name evoking the legend of Emma and Roland Roncesvalles) Metzeral dominant and the upper valley of the Fecht, stands the church of Emm, "Monument Recognition Remembrance Alsatian" , An essential step for any lover of history and enchanting landscapes.

Beautifully situated at the bottom of the valley and the centre of an exceptional site, the church is a memorial dedicated to the dead end of the war of 1914-18 in the Vosges and in particular to those fallen at the very bloody battle in June Metzeral 1915. The Church of the Emm is also the parish church of Metzeral-Sondernach and a place in a secular pilgrimage dedicated to the Virgin.

 Wihr-au-Val


Located at the foot of Sonnenberg, Wihr-au-Val is cited for the first time in a document of 896 as "Bonifacii Villare", ie the villa Bonifacius, Duke franc d'Alsace. The track's oldest oil mill dates back to 1727. It was destroyed during the 1914-1918 war, then rebuilt in 1919. During the interwar period, pressing nuts allowed to supply stores in the valley of Munster. He then produced rapeseed oil, nuts and poppy.
The paddle wheel is powered by water from the Little Fecht through a secondary channel.
